$48,000 – $62,000
Position Summary
The Resource Development Director leads United Way’s annual fundraising campaign, builds community partnerships, manages donor relationships, and supports key events and communications. This role is essential in ensuring United Way has the resources needed to support programs across North Central Iowa.


Key Responsibilities
1. Annual Campaign
  • Lead the campaign from start to finish—materials, videos, events, and volunteer coordination.
  • Manage business outreach, presentations, and workplace campaign scheduling.
  • Analyze campaign data, set goals, and monitor budgets.
  • Maintain donor and campaign records in the CRM (with Database Specialist support).
2. Donor & Community Relationships
  • Spend at least half your time building relationships in the community.
  • Identify, cultivate, and steward donors, sponsors, and workplace partners.
  • Represent United Way at meetings, service clubs, and public events.
  • Help develop donor-focused materials in partnership with Communications staff.
3. Event Management
  • Form and manage event committees.
  • Plan and execute events like Campaign Kick-Off, Campaign Celebration, and Day of Caring.
4. Additional Duties
  • Attend Board and committee meetings as needed.
  • Support office coverage and take meeting minutes when needed.
  • Represent United Way at community functions.
  • Work on special projects and professional development as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred OR 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, sales, marketing, or event planning.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience with digital fundraising, social media, and CRM tools.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to pass background and credit checks.
