Youth Entrepreneurship Program Coordinator

BASIC FUNCTION: This role is responsible for recruiting, training and supervising facilitators for the Entrepreneur for a Day (E4D) program, as well as engaging area schools to participate. The Coordinator will oversee the development, programming and curriculum development, and delivery of entrepreneurship education programs and workshops for K-14 students, including the Youth Entrepreneur Academy, Entrepreneur for a Day (E4D), and NIACC student entrepreneurship programming (CEO Club Advisor, Marketplace Coordinator). Additionally, they will recruit and retain sponsors for student programming and pursue grant opportunities to fund youth entrepreneurial programming.
 
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Starting salary of $37,600 to $45,200 based on education and experience. Benefits package includes Blue Cross/Blue Shield major medical health insurance; eye care, dental, life and disability insurance; paid vacation and sick leave; a choice of IPERS or TIAA retirement plans and a variety of additional optional benefits.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required; business or teaching degree preferred. Valid driver’s license required. Candidates should possess an understanding of business and/or entrepreneurial education principles. Candidate should be able to demonstrate workshop or program experience with K-14 students. The ability to collaborate effectively with local school districts and the community college to serve students is essential, along with strong organizational skills to focus on details in the development and implementation of entrepreneurial programs. Familiarity with K-12 school and community college processes and systems is highly desirable.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
K-12 and NIACC Student Engagement and Entrepreneurship Programming

  • Collaborate with the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center to facilitate the development, implementation, and evaluation of K-14 entrepreneurship programs across the nine-county service area.
  • Coordinate and deliver the Entrepreneur for a Day program for fifth-grade students in the NIACC nine-county region by recruiting, training, and supervising the program facilitators and participants, overseeing grant and budget matters and coordinating marketing collateral.
  • Develop and report program goals, accomplishments, and concerns to the JPEC team, providing quarterly updates to the NIACC JPEC on all youth entrepreneurial program efforts.
  • Conceptualize and develop additional entrepreneurship programs tailored for K-14 students in the nine-county service area (e.g., middle school initiatives).
  • Promote and recruit schools to participate in E4D, assisting with fundraising efforts to support the program and coordinating facilities and materials.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with other regional programs conducting youth entrepreneurial education, including creativity, innovation, and STEM learning initiatives.
  • Coordinate and execute events/programs to engage middle school and high school students in the nine-county region (e.g. Explore, Discovery Day, Everyday Entrepreneur Student Pitch Competition).
  • Provide support, mentorship, and advisement to NIACC Entrepreneurship and Business students as the CEO Club Advisor and manage the budget and fundraising for the group.
  • Serve as the program director for the Youth Entrepreneur Academy (YEA) and any additional Youth Entrepreneur Camps, facilitating and supervising instructor trainings, overseeing grant and budget matters, coordinating marketing collateral, and recruiting students.
  • Manage the NACCE Student Programs, such as the Everyday Entrepreneur Student Pitch Competition, and continuously explore other program opportunities with NACCE.
  • Oversee the day-to-day administration of the programs including grant requests, MOUs for facilitators and other administrative duties.
  • Work as part of the NIACC Pappajohn Center team on special projects and events.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform in a manner which strengthens the coordination and cooperation of all organizational components of the College, including opportunities for student recruitment.
