Teller/New Accounts Representative

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Deposit Specialist/Teller Supervisor, responsible for conducting
financial transactions between customers and the Bank. Handle routine customer inquiries and
problems and maintain favorable customer and employee relations by performing the following
duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following duties and any additional
duties that may be assigned by your supervisor.

Receive and process checking and savings account transactions; mortgage and retail loan
payments; MasterCard/VISA transactions. Note and verify significant information as required by
Bank policy/procedure. Ensure that Bank procedures are followed when performing transactions
on the teller machine and other equipment as required. Maintain favorable customer relations
through proper handling of all collection and disbursement functions. Exercise discretion,
judgment, and initiative regarding transaction problems and inquiries.

Maintain adequate working funds as required by Bank policy. Verify and balance assigned cash
drawer with minimal cash variances. Assist in reconciling errors or discrepancies for self and
other tellers.

Issue cashier's checks and money orders. Process the redemption of savings bonds.

Become knowledgeable with Online Banking, Bill Pay, Mobiliti and Mobile Deposit Capture so
you can help customers when they have problems.

Open night deposit vault, distributing the contents to proper individuals and processing all
deposits and other transactions using dual control at all times.

Process incoming mail transactions per Bank procedures. Put together payment books.

As needed, purchase working money supply from vault. Order & sell money to other Branch of
Bank.

Open accounts for customers per established procedures assuring that required forms and records
are completed, necessary disclosures made thereby assuring that customers understand the terms
and conditions of these accounts.

Receive and answer questions on Bank transaction services and procedures, maintaining good
customer relations at all times. Discuss routine problems related to checking and savings
transactions or Bank services. Direct customers to appropriate employees for answers to only the
most complex problems or inquiries. Refer difficult questions to the Lead Teller/New Account
Rep or an officer.

Balance ATM, replenish cash supply and ensure the ATM is in working order.

Count, wrap and bag coins. Count and verify currency to sell. Count vault and verify bills.
Balance or assist in balancing the working fund. Accumulate mutilated currency to be shipped
out.

Receive and answer telephone inquiries from customers and internal staff regarding customer and bank
related accounts. Assist Bank personnel with questions on the status of accounts, bank statements,
charges, interest, etc. in an efficient, courteous manner providing positive employee relations.

Respond in a timely and accurate manner to customer's inquiries and requests for stop payments, check or
statement photocopy requests, customer research and balancing concerns, electronic funds transfer errors,
etc.

Maintain confidentiality of customer account information. Follow established policies and procedures in
responding to inquiries and requests.

Maintain DDA and savings account signature card files. Insert new signature cards and purge cards on
closed accounts. Remove/replace signature cards on business accounts as necessary.

Assist in the reconciliation of official checks, correspondent accounts and Bank related accounts.

Scanning and imaging when need. Balance CD statement and account analysis.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties

Have ability to identify customers' financial services needs and cross-sell services to meet those
needs. Advise customers on promotional items and services.

Provide assistance to co-workers with difficult internal problems or customer inquiries or
problems. Ensure prompt and courteous response to customer inquiries.

Work as a Teller/New Account Rep at any given location. An employee may be required to work
a different schedule to cover hours, per supervisor approval or request.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus additional bank related training; or one to
two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write
simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group
situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral
instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must have the ability to operate the following equipment: telephone, teller terminal, 10-key calculator,
typewriter, personal computer, printer, copy machine, shredder, check encoder, coin machine, currency
counter, step stool and/or ladder, multi-drawer file cabinet, microfilmer, laminator, and fax machine.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid driver's license.
