Building CommUNITY: Celebrating Juneteenth
The Chamber’s June Building CommUNITY Session will focus on Iowa Juneteenth history and how employers can honor and celebrate the holiday. Leading the session is Iowa Juneteenth General Chairperson Dwana Bradley.
Dwana Bradley serves as Executive Director of the Des Moines Urban Experience, which presents Iowa Juneteenth. Telling the stories of others is important to Dwana; she is the owner of Iowa Urban Media, a community-focused publishing company which publishes Urban Experience Magazine and produces “This is Not My Show.”
Bradley has earned three degrees from Drake University: an M.S.T. in elementary teacher education, an Ed.S. in educational leadership, and an M.S.E. in literacy education. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Educational leadership at Drake University.
In this informative session, Dwana will delve into the history, cultural importance, and contemporary relevance of Juneteenth. Join us to learn more about the significance of Juneteenth!
