DESCRIPTION:Breaking Glass Leadership Series\n\n\n\nDecember's Breaking Glass\, sponsored by Holiday Inn Express & Suites   Mason City\, will encourage attendees to challenge their own notions of what it means to be strong   both mentally and physically. Held from 8-9:30AM on Wednesday\, December 18\, this session features Annie Brees and Abbie Mork\, founders of the Women's Barbell Classic.\n\n \n\nThe Women's Barbell Classic started as a movement to uplift and empower women involved in strength training. It invited women of all ages and disciplines (powerlifting\, CrossFit\, StrongMan\, or otherwise) to "join forces\, test their strength\, and connect with other powerful women." Proceeds from the Women's Barbell Classic support charitable women's organizations. The 2019 meet raised $20\,000 for the Young Women's Resource Center in Des Moines. Brees and Mork have now set their sights on empowering high school girls in the Des Moines metro area\, by offering a six week lifting program designed to build their strength and confidence.\n\n \n\nAttendees will hear about how Brees and Mork have pushed themselves to succeed as business women and mentors in a traditionally male-dominated field. Learn their advice for continuing to show up and succeed\, even when it feels like everyone around is saying\, "you don't belong here."\n\n \n\nTickets are $10 for Chamber members\, $20 for non-members.
